JOB TITLE: On/Off-Premise Sales Rep
LOCATION: Twin Cities Western Metro

REPORTS TO: Distributor Sales Manager Twin Cities

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Salaried Exempt

An authentic interest and ability to build meaningful relationships through great craft beer by sharing the story and embracing the heritage of August Schell Brewing Company is the most essential component to success in this position. The person in this role will call on retailers and support distributors in the defined area. They will work in a coordinated effort with distributor sales teams. This person will be regularly engaged in conversations with retailers and distributors on beer styles and industry trends. We are looking for someone who can consistently achieve company business plan goals, including volume, distribution and profitability.  Strong organization and time management skills are also needed to effectively manage the workload for this position.


  • Observes and enhances the “Safety First” culture of August Schell Brewery
  • Plan and execute On and Off Premise promotions including both small and large scale events.
    • Minimum of 4 On Premise and 4 Off Premise are required monthly.
  • Obtains orders from On and Off Premise accounts in conjunction with distributor representatives.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with On and Off Premise accounts in area.
  • Sell in and conduct training programs with retailers, restaurateurs, and consumers on all aspects of Schell’s products.
  • Assume a leadership role in implementing key brewery initiatives with distributors, retailers, and restaurateurs in defined area.
  • Assist Lead Brewery Representative in communicating Breweries objectives, policies, and procedures with distributor partners.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating information with distributor partners in order to keep product fresh and relevant.
  • Conduct required in-field work with sessions with distributor representatives.
  • Ensure that the Brewery’s quality standards are clearly understood and enforced by distributors and retailers.
  • Use data systems to identify opportunities for new or expanded distribution, lost sales, incremental volume increases, and other business insights.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in overseeing and managing a personal and professional calendar, with particular attention to balancing multiple deadlines at any given time.
  • Ensure proper use of available legal point of sale items throughout territory.
  • Assist Lead Brewery Representative in communicating sales data and market relevant insights with distributor partners.
  • Attend all Regional & Brewery Sales team meetings as requested.
  • Responsible to turn in weekly accountability worksheet in a timely manner.
  • Review and understand all legal restrictions regarding Brewery product in each market and ensure all initiatives are executed within those limitations.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedules, as weekend and extended workdays are necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of industry experience selling craft beer.
  • Strong knowledge of the local market for craft beer.
  • In depth knowledge of, and direct experience in, the craft beer scene in this geography.
  • Live in Western Metro or surrounding area.

JOB TITLE: Gift Shop Associate
Position Type: Part-time, 20-30 hours per week


A Gift Shop Associate is responsible for providing a range of routine customer service and support to the guests of August Schell Brewing Company. The Associate is also responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing orders, cashiering, simple maintenance, inventory and stocking. They are responsible for interacting with customers to provide information regarding specific products or services and must possess strong customer service skills along with a working knowledge of the products they sell. This is a non- exempt position requiring excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities. The incumbent must also be able to handle and resolve customer inquiries and complaints. The Gift Shop Associate is also responsible for restocking shelves, maintaining merchandising and visual display standards, implementing stock control and security procedures, and maintaining appropriate records.

Duties could include, but may not be limited to:

  • Welcomes customers by greeting them in a timely manner; offering them assistance
  • Directs customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggesting items
  • Advises customers by providing information on products and/or the Brewery
  • Helps customer make selections by building customer confidence; offering suggestions and opinions
  • Operates computerized cash register to conduct sales transactions; handles cash, and makes change as required
  • May create displays, maintain and create an organized work environment. Including but not limited to dusting, folding, vacuuming, sweeping
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

JOB TITLE: Taproom Bartender
Position Type: Part-time

This position plays a major role in a guest’s taproom experience. Consistency is a key element in a positive experience. A bartender must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A bartender should be organized and able to think, act quickly, and effectively while retaining self-composure. This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping.

Duties could include, but may not be limited to:

  • Must attend Alcohol Server Awareness training
  • Welcome each guest’s personally within 30 seconds
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language always while making guests feel appreciated through actions
  • Work as a team with all Starkeller’s personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient beverage service
  • Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Starkeller’s standards at all times
  • Ring beer orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for beers served, and make change
  • Wash and sterilize glasses
  • Must keep tables, bar area, and kitchen wiped down and clean at all times
  • Be attentive! Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it
