Schell's 150th Anniversary Draft Series

The inspiration for the Schell’s Anniversary Draft Series happened one day while looking through the archives in the attic of the brewery. An old book was found that had been presented to Schell’s around the time of Prohibition. The cover of the book was tattered and torn, but after flipping through pages, we made an interesting discovery. The book contained a collection of old German brewing recipes, including several styles which are no longer seen today. Curious as to how these beers might taste, we decided to try our hand at brewing a few of them, and thus, the Schell’s Anniversary Series was born.
This will be a draft only, limited edition series of brews to be released during the two years prior to our 150th Anniversary Celebration in 2010. With our Anniversary Series, we will be experimenting with many of the recipes found in this book, as well as several of our own recipes from years past. These will be one time brews, distributed to a very select number of accounts. Each beer in the series will be released on a specific date that relates to an important time in history for Schell’s. People will get the chance to vote on their favorites, and the winner will be brought back once again as the Schell’s 150th Anniversary Beer. This is a fun and exciting opportunity for you to join us in celebrating our past, as well as the chance to try some tasty new, vintage beers from Schell’s.
