Porktoberfest Day 1: Smokin’ at Schell’s

Sizzle, Smoke, and Suds: The Ultimate BBQ Showdown is coming to Schell’s Brewery!
Get ready to indulge in a finger-licking, lip-smacking experience like no other! Watch as seasoned pitmasters from far and wide gather to put their skills to the test in a sizzling BBQ battle. Each participant is bringing their signature techniques, secret rubs, and smoking styles to Schell’s. Register to compete here.
A panel of discerning judges, handpicked for their passion for both BBQ and brews, will meticulously sample and score each delectable dish. The competition is fierce, and the stakes are high as they determine who will be crowned the BBQ Champion of the day. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category and an overall Grand Champion.
Remember that this is a CONTEST AND NOT A FOOD FESTIVAL, meaning the barbecue competitors cook is only for the judges NOT the general public.
DonutNV and S&B BBQ food trucks will be on-site to help cure your cravings. As you revel in the smoky aroma and tantalizing tastes, don’t forget to pair your BBQ delights with our finest selection of craft beers. We’ll have a small-batch brew of Smoked Helles beer that perfectly complement the rich flavors of BBQ.
The festivities don’t end with the competition! Groove to live music from both Rain Kings and Andrea Lyn that’ll have you bobbing your head and raising your glass. Enjoy a day of camaraderie, laughter, and the joyous atmosphere that only great food, great beer, and great company can create.

It was awesome going through the tour, and the tasting room was a very comfortable place to try very fresh beers as well as some new ones. Sue, our tour guide was great and did a fantastic job showing us around. I would definitely do this tour again and highly recommend checking it out!!
Incredible beer, friendly staff, beautiful facility. Wish we came the day before on Sunday, as the biergarten had live music. Definitely coming back when we visit next year!
Historical and beautiful brewery. A must see if you are in New Ulm. There is something here for everyone even if you aren’t a beer drinker.
Fantastic experience! My co-workers and I went on the brewery tour for only $10. Included samples at the end, along with a complimentary glass. Highly recommended if you love beer!
Been coming here for years. Always love this place. Although I prefer it in the late spring, when the flowers are blooming and the peacocks are out. The beer is as good as you can imagine and the atmosphere is even better. The staff is fantastic and I'll keep going back!
